What does your referral source really want?

By
Real Estate Agent with RealEstateSINY.com

We tend to spend most of our time on generating referrals, getting referrals, inviting referrals so I thought it would be time for us to rethink what our referral sources really want from us. It is pretty simple actually.

1- Update. they want to be informed. In other words, they want to know, did you make any contact? how did it      go? and can you provide the assistance needed?

2- They want to be appreciated for referring someone to you.

3- They want to be noticed and recognized by both you and the person they reffered.

4- They want great and exceptional service.

So let's give it to them

Irena, you'd think that that would be something you could expect from those you give referrals to.  Unfortunately, some folks need a reminder.

Irena, you are right.  I have referred recently, and the only way I know everything is going ok is the CLIENT is keeping me informed, not the agent I referred to!  I mean how hard is it to email??

Hi Irena,

I believe the best way to get business is by referral. I'm curious as to what other agents give for referrals as an incentive. I've been giving $50 Lowe's or Home Depot Gift Certificates for every referral that becomes a listing or an agency agreement. I've been an agent for 1 year and a half and in that time, this practice has brought me three referrals that became a sale.

As a side note, our Lowe's has a REALTOR Benefits program. LowesRealtorBenefits.comLowe's - Let's Build Something Together : Realtor® Benefits

We get 5% off gift certificates. Thanks for bringing up this very important marketing tool. I look forward to hearing what works for you and others.
