UPDATE! SpaceX Falcon 9 launch

is now set for tomorrow, Friday March 4, 2016

at Cape Canaveral AFS

SpaceX will make a fifth (5th) attempt to launch the Falcon 9 rocket tomorrow, Friday, March 4th.

The window opens at 6:35pm and lasts about 1-1/2 hours. This launch is a bit unique since the first stage of the rocket will land on an unmanned barge about 400 miles off the coast of Florida.

Come enjoy TGIF here on the beach then watch the rocket launch and start your weekend with a blast...literally!!!

UPDATE!!!

LAUNCH SCRUBBED DUE TO UPPER LEVEL WINDS!

WILL UPDATE WHEN NEW DATE IS ANNOUNCED...

SpaceX Falcon 9 launch is Today, March 1, 2016

at Cape Canaveral AFS

Living on Cocoa Beach offers many perks and one of the favorite activities is watching rockets launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Florida's Space Coast. We will have a chance to do so this evening when SpaceX makes its fourth (4th) attempt to launch the Falcon 9. The launch was scrubbed three times, for various reasons, including the last attempt on Sunday evening.

The rocket is set to liftoff from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station today, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 and will carry an SES-9satellite which will provide Southeast Asia with high speed internet and HD TV.

Liftoff is set for 6:35pm to avoid upper level winds. The window is long, about 1-1/2 hours and currently the weather looks great so come out and watch history in the making!

Each launch is unique so don't miss it. Arrive early to enjoy our gorgeous weather and find a good spot to view the launch. Don't forget to bring your camera and take plenty of pics to commerate this special occasion.

That is so cool,  .  Having worked for an aerospace company over 25 yrs ago ... that was one thing I never had the opportunity to do... watch a launch of one of our vehicles, in person.

Lets hope it goes this time.  I get so excited when I see the blastoff! OK, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration!

I'd rather they scrub it if it will give a better opportunity for success, while avoiding disaster!  I'd love the opportunity to see a launch.  I'll bet it's breathtaking!

Will Hamm A launch is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. It was scrubbed so now we wait...

Dan Hopper Wow, a 25 year aerospace vet! You would feel right at home here on the Space Coast.  Hard to believe in all those years you never got to see a launch...you will have to put that on your bucket list!

No one gets more excited when the rockets lift off than those of us who live here on Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral, Gary L. Waters, Broker Owner, Waters Realty of Brevard, LLC and that is no exaggeration! Scrubbed again...

Any time, Kevin J. May . Busy is good but when you live on Cocoa Beach you don't need any reminder of a launch...it takes precedence over everything!

After the scrub I'm hoping Friday can be a night launch also. Anxious to see what kind of energy a Falcon 9 can muster from 150 miles or so!

No time has been announced yet but the previous launches were set for around the same time so you will probably have an evening launch.

Are you still in Hobe Sound? If so, you are only about 100 miles from here. We have friends in Boynton Beach and it is 150+/- miles to where they live.

Myrl Jeffcoat Absolutely, it is far better to err on the side of safety! And breathtaking is the word to describe watching a launch up close and in person. I think everyone should do that at least once in their life!

LOL! I guess it's all a matter of perspective...it never gets old for those of us who live on the beach. We take a scrubbed launch in stride and it just adds another layer of anticipation and excitement!

Hi Diana,

It was a great launch.  The landing, not so good.  Eventually they'll get it right.

I would love to be in Florida when a rocket is being launched but I think it would be more luck than planning given the number of delays.  Safety first as you said

Mary Yonkers It can be hit or miss, a little like trying to time the RE market but well worth it when you finally set it live and up close. I can't remember the last time a launch had as many delays as this one...that was very unusual.
