Today, according to my calendar, is The World Day Of Prayer...!!!
Now, I’m all for PRAYING, and especially with others WORLDWIDE, and more especially for THE WORLD ITSELF...YES...Heaven knows THE WORLD NEEDS PRAYER...BUT...DO WE ???
There are 365 days in a year...366 this year...BUT AGAIN...IF we really believe in prayer, does it make sense to allot just 1 day out of the year to SEEK GOD’S HELP AND GRACE...???
I say we as a world have drifted afar from OUR LOVING GOD...Even though HE REMINDS US ‘HE IS NEVER REALLY FAR FROM ANY ONE OF US’...
Instead of KEEPING GOD FIRST IN OUR LIVES...AND ON AN ONGOING BASIS...AS JESUS CLEARLY SUGGESTED...we have relegated him to a kind of ‘IMPERSONAL TRAINER’...A self help kind of god...In a sense, many who still believe in God have become deists...relying on THEIR PRAYER AND THEIR STRENGTH rather than HIS HELP...AND THEN ONLY WHEN THEY ARE IN DIRE STRAIGHTS...
God has become, to many, one book in a library of books...YET...HE IS THE AUTHOR OF LIFE...THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE...!!!
One of my favorite Scripture Passages from PROVERBS says it best:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
Honor the Lord with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;
then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine.
ON THIS WORLD DAY OF PRAYER let us ask OUR GOD AND FATHER TO COME INTO OUR LIVES IN A PERSONAL WAY, TO DRAW EACH ONE OF US CLOSER TO HIM, TO HEAL OUR FAMILIES,TO GUIDE OUR LEADERS BY HIS HOLY SPIRIT AND NOT BY THE SPIRIT OF THE WORLD, AND TO PLACE HIM FIRST IN OUR LIVES...NOT JUST TODAY...BUT EVERY DAY...!!!
