The Value of Face to Face Communication

The Value of Face to Face Communication

I own a wonderful little book of daily readings that I open from time to time, in no particular order.

I happened upon a short little passage today on the values of communication, and how communication includes so much more than words.

It went on to say that one authority stated that only 7 percent of our communication actually involves spoken words, 38 percent is body language, and 55 percent tone of voice.  I thought a lot about that, being that so much of my daily "communication" involves the WRITTEN word - where INFERRED tone and perception color our messages.

It reminds me that we need to communicate IN PERSON - to take the time to LISTEN face-to-face in our client conversations.  Listening, conveying meaning through actions, body language, facial expressions - THESE are truly the keys to creating quality conversation with our clients while providing them with excellent service, real estate professionalism -- and a lasting connection.

So true Cara Marcelle Mancuso!  Face-to-face is very important, and body language says so much . . .  and maybe more so today, since we do 'everything' on-line.  Great Blog!!

There is really nothing more important or of such great value, that a sales person can do, than face to face, eye to eye contact... period.  Thanks for the reminder,  .

You make excellent points about face to face communication.  And, you are also right about certain things being misconstrued or lost in technical transmission.

Good morning Cara.  I am quick to temper when I read an email in which I infer something totally different than what the sender intended.  On the other hand a person to person or phone call would have been better.  I agree it is all in the tone and the person who interprets the message.  Be careful as to the words you use and how they may be interpreted.
