Hi there, when I saw that you are from Wasilla, I had to comment that recently our Naples paper came out with a survey of the Best Places to Retire and Wasilla was number one or two in the country! My husband laughed because Naples, FL was number three and he couldn't believe that Wasilla beat out our city! Looking forward to visiting some day!

Hi there Susan, we do not have a state income tax and our city tax in Wasilla is only 2% so the tax benefits are certainly a plus. We also have much more mild weather than you would think (often the midwest is WAY worse than here) . We have a different type of warm (our 60 feels like your 70).

Add in the nearly 24 hours on daylight in the summer and being able to walk, hike, fish or otherwise explore our great state in daylight (even at 10PM or midnight if you want to venture out like us locals) and we actually do have a lot to offer.

Larry and I have four vacation rentals in Wasilla if you would like to visit and see for yourself. :)
