What are the 7 Habits
Johnson Ranch has an elementary school within the community. Walker Butte is a K thru 8th grade leadership school. Everyday, all students recite the 7 habits which are:
1.Be Proactive (you're in charge)
2.Begin with the end in mind (have a plan)
3.Put first things first (work first, then play)
4.Think win-win (everyone can win)
5.Seek first to understand, then to be understood (listen before you talk)
6.Synergize (together is better)
7.Sharpen the saw (balance feels best)
Habit #1 and #2 in Action!
Have you ever heard of the "Golden Trash Can Award"? Well, classes at Walker Butte compete to receive this coveted award. Custodians identify the top 3 classrooms that keep their chairs pushed in, desks straight and neat and all trash picked up from the floor. Each time the students receive the Golden Trash Can Award, their class is entered into a monthly drawing for a pizza party. This is just one of the many ways Walker Butte teaches students to be proactive and begin with the end in mind!
We Love This School!
The Walker Butte School is located at 29697 N. Desert Willow Blvd. in San Tan Valley, AZ. 85143. This school offers Music, Cheer, Football, Volleyball, Spelling Bee's, Accelerated Reading Program, Family Math and Family Game Nights. Check out all the latest happenings by reading the Walker Butte News. Recently, a parent posted this online, "We love this school and the leader in me program they have implemented. I can really see the difference in the staff and students since beginning the 7 habits. That being said, I keep on top of everything my children do/learn so I can help keep them accountable. I have a bunch of favorite teachers there that my kids still hold in high regard. Plus, the reading program with Mrs. Campbell has been doing great family nights that are free. Hope they do the Math night again too as my older kids really enjoyed it. The electives that my kids chose seem extremely interesting like stock market, sustainable living, and mad science. Last but not least, the athletics program is top notch. Looking forward to the different sport seasons coming up." Walker Butte Elementary School is part of the Florence Unified School District.
