Lake Oconee Rates in Golfweek Magazine

Golfweek Magazine publishes a list of Golf Courses You Can Play for each state. Lake Oconee usually rates high with candidates in the state of Georgia. According to the magazine, the number of courses selected in each state varies based on course supply, population and level of play. The selection panel considers only daily-fee layouts and courses accessible via resorts. Some qualifiers for being chosen for this honor are variety of holes, golf course conditioning, memorability of the golf holes, and the "walk in the park" test which rates the total enjoyment of the playing experience of the course-the fun of the game, as well as the aesthetics and design of the course.

This year's Georgia Golfweek's Best included 15 courses, 5 of which are in the Lake Oconee area. The list is as follows:

2. Reynolds Lake Oconee (Great Waters), Greensboro

3. Harbor Club, Greensboro

4. Reynolds Lake Oconee (Oconee), Greensboro

5. Arrowhead Pointe, Elberton

6. University of Georgia GC, Athens

7. Sea Island GC (Retreat), Sea Island                                                           Harbor Club

8. Reynolds Lake Oconee (The Landing), Greensboro  

9. The Georgia Club (Chancellors), Statham

10. Sea Island GC (Plantation), St. Simons Island

11. Achasta, Dahlonega

12, Club at Savannah Harbor, Savannah

13. Callaway Gardens Golf Resort (Mountain View), Pine Mountain

14 .Brasstown Valley, Young Harris

15. Reynolds Lake Oconee (Plantation), Greensboro

In addition, # 6. University of Georgia Club, and #9 The Georgia Club are within an hour's drive.There is no doubt that golf is a big draw for Lake Oconee. These golf courses are beautiful and fun ways to enjoy the sport here at Lake Oconee.
