Remember the hand? The one that reached towards you to help. You grasp it and the hand guided you through the unknown, the difficult time, the rough experience. But on the other side you ultimately had to decide, "Return or press forward?" You choose press forward and stood on your own and made your way.
I recall in vivid detail that season in life. Pressed so deep into the folds of memory that it sleeps until provoked.
"I don't deserve to be here."
"How did I get out of there?"
"AM I out of there?"
Whispers that haunt until they are displaced, silenced, rendered bankrupt by truth revealed, choices made. From such a season of the powerless, insignificant, without purpose, less than the flower on the wallpaper, emerges a creation from the dust, tested by fire, enduring the storms, prevailing over doubt and fear.
And here we all are, not the product of life planed but the result of making life with what comes.
Realizing the fight, the struggle is never over, mechanisms mental, spiritual and physical are relied upon to stay the course, keep on the path of the over-comer, to assume the authority and purpose for with one is destined.
The memories leak from my eyes in the knowing of the merciful intervention.
That encounter, the word heard, the epiphany that leads to liberation, to transformation. Such treasures are those things we protect in the secret chambers of our heart. Such treasure are never to be shared with those who may handle them recklessly.
In the following excerpt of a TED Talk, Amy Cuddy shares science and personal experience. Hers is not an uncommon story, just a story shared by another courageous enough to be vulnerable. But it's not about her. She leaves behind, with us, a resource freely and readily available for those with the courage to stand up! If you don't make it to minute 18, you WILL miss the message.
Until you become it!
The transformation from "I don't belong here" to "I'm not there anymore" I am sure resonated with most who watched the video. The transformation that includes the long walk from what people think about me to I am enough.
Integral to the transformation, just as Amy modeled, is a willingness, the courage, to open the chamber, to share the treasure locked in the heart's secret chamber, to live afraid and brave, at the exact same moment, all day long.
Two minutes, Amy shares, is all it takes to allow the hard work to be seen. Ones PRESENCE opens the door, then your invitation will be heard.
May each of you become all that you are destined to be, with the song within resisting to be hushed but overflows in expression of the lesson of life, a purpose that keeps your path clear, a heart softened that allows your hand to extend towards another.
The lion within us roars "I did not allow that which does not suite me, determine who I am! I have BECOME and there is no going back! I will press relentlessly forward, always to go forward."
Success is not measured by the size of the pile of toys collected but by the lives one affects. Choose today to go and touch one. Speak truth. Create beauty.
In the comments below share you 'Become it' moment.
