First Time Homebuyer Maryland Mortgage Program Path To Homeownership

It has been a super busy last couple of weeks, doing what I love best…helping folks achieve their dream of home ownership. As we all know, it’s not always easy, but it is always worth it!

Although the housing market has fluctuated over the last decade, we have seen economic recovery and Maryland’s home prices are not only steady but also increasing.

I talk to a lot of people who would love to own their own home, but don’t think that they can. They really want the financial stability and equity growth that homeownership typically affords. They want to take advantage of the tax savings and become more autonomous with no landlord and the uncertainty of renting.

Even those with good credit sometimes find it cost prohibitive to come up with the conventional 20% down payment. More often than not, there are helpful programs that they may qualify for, but don’t even know about.

Maryland, for example, has a great one, the Maryland Mortgage Program (MMP), (http://mmp.maryland.gov/Pages/default.aspx) which offers a range of loan options to meet the differing needs of each borrower. MMP offers down payment and other assistance to qualified state residents who are first-time homebuyers (have not owned or been on title for a principal residence anywhere in the last three years) and are looking for their primary residence.

As an approved MMP lender, I have helped SO MANY folks get on this low cost path to homeownership and it’s been a rewarding experience each and every time!
