70 Story tower to be built on mouth of the Miami River

By

The Lighthouse Tower is planned to reach 817 feet high with an actual lighthouse beacon on top. All in there will be 70 stories of condominium units (384), parking for 516 cars, a spa and pool deck on the 55th floor.

The building directly on the mouth of the Miami river will also be "sail" like in design which in my opinion fits perfect. Stay tuned for more details.

Good morning, Marco -- this is an impressive-looking building.  Any news of projected prices?  I'm sure the views will be incredible.

How do they build for hurricanes? I am sure they know what they are doing but I would be nervous - too many disaster movies as a kid!

I agree with Lise Howe. I caught the last flight out of Fort Lauderdale in the late 70s as Hurricane David was coming into town. As beautiful as that building is, I would be afraid to live there.

Hi Lise Howe good question and I could get all technical but I won't. After a certain windspeed is attained the glass blows out along with a lot of your "stuff".

Hey Mimi Foster hurricane David! That brings back memories...my first hurricane! A lot of hype not much excitement. Now Andrew was a different story.

Not much excitement for those who stayed, maybe, but let me tell you about the excitement of leaving Ft. Lauderdale and flying into Tampa on the last flight before they shut down the airport.  To say nothing of getting stuck in an elevator (alone) for hours, pre-cell phone days. It still makes me shudder to remember LOL So would you want to be in that building during a Hurricane Andrew? That's what I see . . .

Marco, you sure have some creative architects for these buildings, and this one is gorgeous!

Hey Mimi Foster NO! They would evacute all the highrises.  They estimated in 1992 if Andrew had hit Brickell and downtown the damage would be $180BILLION. Fast forward 24 years and 50 more skyscrapers (all glass) and what do you think is in store for us when the big one hits? That is what scares me.

It does look like a giant sail.  Very cool indeed.
