Monterey Sea Treasures

By
Real Estate Agent

Yesterday was a perfect day for my daughter, a couple grandkids and I, to experience a daytrip to Monterey, California.  The beauty of living in the Greater Sacramento region exists in having so many amazing places not far from home.  Monterey is high on the list of those destinations!

The city has the delightful Monterey Bay Aquarium, in addition to Fisherman’s Wharf. My old jaded eyes are never disappointed with the wonder of all things great and small, dwelling in the watery ocean environment!  There are Sea Otters, Jelly Fish, Sharks, Sea Horses, Anemones, Star Fish and Bat Rays.

If you can allow more than a day, the Monterey Peninsula offers many wondrous sights and adventures, in addition to the Monterey Aquarium and Fisherman’s Wharf.  They include Carmel Mission, The Beautiful 17 Mile Drive, Pebble Beach, Pacific House, just to name a few.

Myrl I love Monterey.  Monterey is where my wife went to spend our honeymoon.  I still remember one of the restaurants we eat at.  It was called the Sardine Factory, I wonder if it is still there.

Myrl, anywhere near the ocean is a place I enjoy being. The fewer people there ... the better.  Great photos!!!

Great shots, and I'm still looking forward to visiting Monterey.  I need to get myself up to N. Cal far more often than I have!

George Souto - You say your wife went to Monterey to spend your honeymoon. Where did you go?  The Sardine Factory is still there!

Kathleen Daniels - I'm the same way!  If I have extra energy to spend, I will go to the mountains; but if I need to restore, I'll always head for the ocean!

Myrl, I made sure we made a day trip to see Monterey when we were at the SF NAR Convention back in 2013.  Your past AR posts on the aquarium and surrounding area were as beautiful and interesting as advertised!!!    ^_~

Myrl-What a beautiful slideshow of pictures you shared. I was wondering the same thing about where George went for the honeymoon.

Hello Myrl ...

I love Monterey and while I was working in San Jose for 11 months in 2015 I would drive there once per month. Great photos as usual and have a great week.

Myrl: wish I had been around but was up north. We could have met up near my office in Carmel-by-the-Sea.  Next time? As you say, it's such a beautiful area.

That sounds like a great time to me.  I love being by the water.  And aquariums are a lot of fun.

Myrl Jeffcoat Awesome photos that reaffirm my desire to revisit Monterey again.  Dave has mentioned it several times this winter so a trip to west coast may move up on the travel bucket list.  Will contact you, of course

Good Morning Myrl Jeffcoat - Well, I learned a lot from you this morning! For example, back in the early 1980's I visited Fisherman's Wharf but didn't even realize I was in Monterey! All I remember is that it was a very special place!

I'm not surprised that you take day trips with family members. This is something I wish was possible for me. I learned that it's true. A family that stays together explores, learns, and celebrates new discoveries.

I enjoyed the slide show. Seeing sea creatures elevates the celebration of life not ordinarily seen from living on the land without opportunities to learn about ancient creatures under the sea. Most important of all, these life lessons of family togetherness, even if it is just a day trip will live on in the memories of each individual for years to come. Sometimes, it's not just about the places we go, but more about building family ties, that keeps the reels of memories so special.
