After 16 years of living in the best home ever, we decided to move. I find myself on the other side as a participant of the transaction instead of facilitating a smooth transaction for a seller client. To me, it is like a doctor who becomes a patient and discovers what happens as they are cared for instead of being the one administering the care.
It is quite a different experience. Lots of emotions have popped up. I tell people all the time to look at the process from a business perspective. I have learned that is easier said than done. Not only are complete strangers entering my home to consider the purchase, my Realtor colleagues and peers are coming in too. It is a little intimidating!

I find myself remembering all the little tidbits of advice I freely hand out. Clean is important! Turn on all the lights! Close toilet lids! Wash your bath towels! Put the dog dishes out of site! Make the front door easy to open! Make sure the porch and entry are inviting! Declutter...But don't make it look too impersonal (there is a fine line and I could do another complete blog on that piece of advice).
We have had one buyer come twice and stay several hours. That, I think, is good but what are they doing in there?!?
I have studied the market, priced it right, spruced up the place, and wrapped my brain around the fact we will be leaving a home filled with lots of love and memories. Click here to see a short video of some of those memories showing the love at 4709 102nd Street.
Randy, my husband, is not just a great Realtor, he is also a custom home builder. He is partners with his brother, Rick. McGuire Builders, Inc. is a family owned and operated business with over 30 years of experience. We are building a home that will be part of the West Texas Home Builder's Association Parade of Homes in June, 2016. Hopefully, I will have time to produce a blog about that experience.
I'll share a photo of our soon to be home!
Enjoy your Friday and may peace surround us all.
