Joan Cox - thanks for leaving  a comment. Rents are extremely high in this area right now, so home ownership really does make sense when you break the numbers all down. The only problem is renters are having a hard time saving up for the downpayment. But even if the mortgage payment comes out slightly higher than what someone is currently paying for rent; dollar wise it may still balance out once you consider the tax deductions for property taxes and interest.
