Is staging bookcases a lost cause and not worth it?

Staging over 500 homes per year in Toronto one of my favourite things to do is stage book cases. Here are a few recent homes that allowed for this indulgence.

Some say books are a thing of the past. They skip staging them altogether or put so few items in the book case that it emphasizes the emptiness of the home.


I believe books give a home a soul and character, especially if the home is vacant.

Good morning, Michelle Finnamore ... staging a bookcase is very important....there's no easier way to sabotage a staged room than to have a cluttered bookcase in that room...your eyes go right to it!!!

HI Barbara, I am sure you have seen your fair share of "overdone" book cases as we call them. We refine them to a curated look showing about 25% space in each shelf area.

Hi Maureen, thank you for stopping in to see the book cases. I am thinking that you and I are book worms and that is why we get such pleasure staging book cases. As I child,  I always wished we lived in a home with a room of book cases. Now that would have been heaven for me. 

I was lucky that the family next door had a beautiful library. At 14 I was reading Ayn Rand and many other books that helped shape my world.

Hi Janelle, thank you for stopping in to see these book case displays. We are very fortunate that many homes in our area have a library/office space in them so we are able to stage book cases quite often.
