There are so many hiking trails in the San Bernardino Mountains. Just pull up the SB Forest Department's site and you can get a list longer than your arm.
Easter Sunday, my family and I tried out the sweet trail called Heart Rock back in Crestline. And, as the name states, it is a heart shaped rock. In fact, there are several. Don't miss the waterfall.
The trail is approx. 1 mile, round trip, along a creek and through the forest full of tall pines and oaks. It's an easy hike for those in pretty good shape. I am not one of them, so I was huffing and puffing some on my way back. But it was worth it! The weather was perfect, there was even a friendly little breeze. When you get near the "heart," look down to the left and you'll see a swimming hole. Many people we're splashing around that day, even a few pooches.
To get to the trail from Crestline: take Hwy 138 toward Seeley Camp. This cool, old camp was featured in the 1998 Disney movie "The Parent Trap." At Seeley's Camp, you'll see two signs that point to Seeley Trail or Heart Rock. Go ahead and drive in until you come to the area where others are parking.
Take water and wear comfy walking/hiking shoes.
