Real Estate and Freedom
Too many people within the real estate industry don't really know
which side their bread is buttered on.
They are politically "Liberal" and don't see that as an inconsistency.
But the truth is that the liberal-progressive agenda is anathema to the
concept of property rights.
They don't even know what "real" means in real estate. They think that
it has something to do with tangible. No. REAL means that it belongs
to the KING.
You would think that those of us in California would understand this
because we have a road that winds it's way from San Diego to San
Francisco called the "El Camino Real" or the King's Highway.
It was the King's Highway because it was built by the missionaries for
the king to connect each of the missions in California. The missions
are Catholic Churches but they were built under agreement with the
King of Spain, for the benefit of the Spanish Crown. Hence the highway
that connected them was REAL property.
A thousand years ago in Britain all the land belonged to the crown as
well. It was REAL property. Generally, the people were tenants (or
leasehold owners).
It took a long time for the concept of common people to own land to
take hold. But when it did, they didn't change the name. They still
called it REAL ESTATE (The King's Estate).
Now we are facing a time of a shrinking middle-class. Every year less
people own real estate than the year before. Less people live in their
own homes. More of us are tenants.
This is unacceptable in a free society. we are going backward. Back
towards a time when the King and his Peers owned all the land.
The Real Estate industry operates as a means of transferring title to
land (and houses of course) between common folk.
When common folk no longer own "real estate" there will be no need
for a real estate industry. this should be very easy to understand.
The link between real estate and the middle-class should be obvious
to all. Support of real estate is the same as a support of property
rights and the rights of the middle-class to own their own home.
Anything that takes away from an individual's right (and opportunity)
to own their own home, takes away from all of us that practice "real
estate."
We should all be on the same side of this issue. We are for freedom.
We are for property rights. We believe in REAL ESTATE.
