I may have a sore 'A..' urr I mean back side with this move

With spring having officially arrived in Sandpoint Idaho, not only on the calendar but weather as well, the summer activities are beginning.  Many of the events for summer and fall are not the type of events you just decide the day before you want to join in and do.

Two such events are the "Chafe 150" and the "WaCanId Ride" bicycle rides,  originating in Sandpoint as well as finishing at Sandpoint's City Beach.  I will have more detailed posts for both rides in the near future.  'The Chafe 150' June 18th 2016, is a single day ride of 150 miles with an 80 and 30 also.  The WaCanId,  September 12 thru 17th 2016, is a 371 mile ride around the International Selkirk Loop that is 6 days total with a layover in Nelson BC.

I want to ride the WaCanId and thought it a good idea to see what 75 to 100 miles would feel like at the end of the day.  So I have signed up for the Chafe 150.  I am doing the 80 miles.  Thought that would be plenty considering have not been on a bike for more than 10 miles and that was 2 years ago with no biking 20 years before that.

So yes I do believe the 'backside' may be a bit sore with this decision.

Okay, it's a bike ride! Trying to figure out what type of "ride" we were talking about. I was thinking horseback, silly me. No way in h**l I'd do a bike ride for that long--so good for you!!

Hello Mark ...

When I was much younger I would go on 100 mile bike rides but I couldn't do it today!

Sounds like a great event and I could handle a 150 mile motorcycle ride

Mark- a little hint... Larry once bought some biker's shorts that have some padding for your behind!   Good luck and hope to read about your progress.

Hello Kathy,  An avid rider friend of mine tells me that serious riders budget $1 or more for every mile they will ride in a day.  If 100 miles they are spending over $100 for shorts.  Of course with the padding.  I think it sounds like a well used formula and one I should listen to.  Mark

Good job, Mark. I did Cycle Oregon one year...wowzers, a lot of miles and days on a bike. You will enjoy every minute though, and it's worth the pain in the backside. :)

Hi, Mark...I might suggest you do a bit of riding now to get ready for all of this. Good luck and I can't wait to hear all about both of the rides.

Good morning Mark. I haven't been on a bike for a long time, but enjoy running. Sure you get sore but am sure you will still enjoy the rides.

Top of the morning Joe.  I used to run as well.  My knees don't seem to be up to it anymore.  Of course that may be my excuse.  Don't care to find out.  lol  So hopefully this bike ride will be the start of something new for me. Mark

I did that years ago one day, jumped on a bike for a fundraiser after years of not and only did 26 miles in a day and I was wiped out.  My best wishes to you.
