Ways to make yourself stand out

Today we had a great speaker name Scott St John from our corporate office who has over 30 years experienc in the Real Estate and Mortgage Industry. He is recognized nationwide as and expert in lead generation, database managment and industry forecasting . Today he shared some great ideas with  some Realtors we are building relationships with, in our local area. They were ways to make you stand out from crowd, little things you can to do generate more referrals and give your clients the Wow factor in service.
I took a lot of great notes and many of them I have already started implementing into my business. And I'd like to begin sharing a few of those ideas with you in various blogs over a period of time.

Today the one idea I really liked and will begin doing; putting a code on every business card I hand out. The code will signify to me when I get a referral, as to the source of the referral so I can track which one of my many activity generates the most business.

For example when I visit Realtors at Open Houses during the weekend I might put WOH (Weekend Open House).                                                                                                                                                                           Now I put those codes into my Contact managment program with that referral partners information along with other little details; perhaps the house I met them at, the city I met them in, the weather that day, or even the types of loans that interest them, or even perhaps a client they may want to refer to me.

Then the day I get that call from a Realtor I met, I would ask them to read the code from the card to me, which will help me remember where I met them, which then allow me share some of the little details of the day I met them, and often times they to will begin to remember that day too.

Now in their eyes, either the client or referral partner I am speaking with might think to themselves that I have attention to the little details which we all know is very important in our business. Great idea!

One more idea that you can easily do that will probably help you stand out, and I have already done it is this;

First; Listen to your voice mail all the way through, really listen; Do you find yourself saying the words; I'm sorry I'm not available?" Or "I apologize for not answering."  I'm sure many of us do and we should all stop saying that as we have nothing to apologize for, as we're out there creating business, building relationships or helping a client. And  I know for a fact I'm not sorry for that, are you?

Also many of our outgoing messages are like everyone elses, why not consider this idea; change your message to say in the begining after your name,"Thank you for the Opportunity to Serve You."

And at the end of your  message you might want to say, "And remember you are never an interuption in my day, as I am here for you."

Imagine what your clients and referrals partners might think?

I really liked that one, and I already did it.

It's the little tweaks to what we all ready do that can make a big difference in our business.

I'll share more great ideas, as I implement them into my own business.

Until next time, take care.

I like the positive spin on the voice mail.  Offering an apology is a sign of weakness.

Hi Dave! The voicemail advice is killer. We really don't need to apologize for being out there and busy.  I not only drive myself crazy redoing outgoing messages, I ALSO ALWAYS listen to messages I leave on others' VMs at least once through if possible, so I know I'm communicating clearly.
