Feeling Stressed? Then Set Boundaries And Create Habits

MAYBE I HAD A TAD TOO MUCH PROTEIN IN MY DRINK!!

Well I done good. I posted my 1st blog article in a couple of years on Wednesday and folks actually saw it!! That’s always the first step in having a successful blog. At least that’s what they say. Not sure who “they” are but I’m sure it’s the truth because I read it online.

Anyway this article is not about blogging. It’s about setting boundaries in your business and your life. It’s about taking care of yourself first so that you are your best to be able to help others. We can only give others what we have.

So it’s important, at least to me, to be as strong as I can be in all aspects of  my life.

My goal everyday is to take steps  forward, spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally and to cause others no harm. If I do this, then I know from experience, that everything else will take care of itself.

In order to do this we must have boundaries, form habits and eliminate stress.

A  few examples of the boundaries that I have set for myself are:

  • I shut all phones and internet devices off at 6pm Monday -Saturday. On Sundays I go off the grid completely.

  • My work hours are 4:30 to 7am and 10:30 am to 6pm Monday-Saturday.

  • 7am to 10:30 am is my time for meditating, praying, working out and reading. This satisfies my goal of “take steps  forward, spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally” and gets my day off on the right foot.

  • I do not let toxic and negative people into my life. I’m too old for this crap :)  These people create stress in my life so I wish them well and move on.

  • And this is the most important thing I do…..I live in the present. I have no regrets from what I may or may not have done yesterday and certainly I don’t worry about what tomorrow may bring.  I know for a fact that our entire world will be different tomorrow so why worry about it today?

These things seem simple but really aren’t. All of these require practice, difficult decisions and faith.

So folks put yourself first today. Create a life. Don’t just blindly take whatever comes your way. If you don’t want buyers and sellers to steal your time then don’t let them. Set boundaries and stick to them. Strive to be your best everyday.

And always remember it’s not about making money. It’s about helping folks and finding peace and happiness while doing so.

I guess that’s it for today. I hope this all makes sense and helps someone to get their life in order.

Until next time…...

Put 40 years of experience to work for you

I do my Miracle Morning from 5 to 7 AM, and it's called sleeping in, not getting up, LOL. I do work from 7 to 7 but am lax on Thursdays (official Realtor Day Off), and I do not take any appointments except an occasional emergency over Sat-Sun. Plus, let's not forget I typically take about 2 months a year off for vacations. It's all about finding your personal rhythm and inner peace.

Great to see you back, BB, and with an important and inspiring reminder. I think it can be tough to set boundaries, whatever those be, and keep to them in our business.

Bryant Tutas - wow! I wish I could control the way you do....

However, few things I am trying to incorporate is - excercise every morning (so far so good this year) and my mediation (which is also working fine,)

Rest all.....I need help!

I have been setting boundaries for over 20 years with clients and my business and have found that so long as I set expectations up-front I have suffered any ill effects in terms of impact on my business. And if someone can't respect my boundaries the way I respect theirs, then they need to find another broker.

Good advice we all need to set limits and boundaries, or people will run all over them. There are many in our industry that make themselves available 24/7 and I understand that when they need business.

9 years later in this business I have set my limits and boundaries. Calls after 6 pm get returned the next day, unless they are a client. Saturdays are by appointment only, and Sundays are completely off.

Maybe it's one of the advantages of growing older, but I'm finding I'm much better at "allowing" myself some down time and time off than I used to be, Bryant Tutas ... especially when the grandkids are involved.  I'm at the age where I've begun to think time is more precious than I used to ...

Bryant, there is a lot to be said about setting boundaries and creating habits. Thanks for the reminder;  think I will make some changes today.

Also, though it does take time to firmly plant the habits in firm ground, it is sort of challenging and fun, don't you think.  I have an idea for today:  going to replant my 30-Day Paleo Challenge Diet/Plan.   I did enjoy the 1st Paleo challenge and I made it through - with a big smile, too.  Lost 30 pounds.

Have a MAGICAL day,  Bryant Tutas
