Building a Leopold Bench

To go with the Leopold theme of my past two posts, I am going to include one more post Relating to Aldo Leopold, that of the Leopold Bench.

I have mentioned in other posts in the past the sweet tranquility of having a few benches placed throughout your forest, especially on a quiet place along the trail.

When reading Leopold’s book, A Sand County Almanac, it is easy to imagine him sitting on one of these benches early in the morning contemplating the workings of the world and our place in it.

It is truly a special feeling to sit on a comfortable bench, contemplating the great world that God has shared with us, and I highly recommend doing it often.

Bob Crane This bench looks like it is a simple-enough design that anyone, even I could build it! Sure beats sitting on a tree stmp or log!
