Helping Grouchy People

I had a call come into my office today with a very unhappy man.. When I took the call he was first needing to let me know how Re/Max people told him they would call him back and they didn't. When I asked what he needed it was to research the person in Pa. who sold him property because he wanted to sell it now. He is here in Florida. I called up there and many men had a last name which started with a M. He told me the last name started with a M and  the agency was a Re/Max in Redding, Pa.,didn't know anything more. So.... I took the time to call around and wouldn't you know I found the realtor. I gave that person the information.

I just did a follow up call to ask if he recieved a call and was all set. He had heard and was quite happy that someone was willing to help him with this. I should note here,this man is 85 years old. Before I hung up he informed me that he has several properties here in Florida on the water and will contact me if he is going to sell or buy and is going to pass my name to others, since I took the time to listen, follow up and talk with him.

You never know who is on the other end of that phone and what grief they might be dealing with. Treat them with respect and it will be returned to you.

Good luck out there. The market is wild. Enjoy it, but take time out for those who call. call them back!!

Good for you doing the right thing.  I do know you don't have to be old to be grumpy and I also know it is not unique to any agency to not follow up.  Lack of follow up is a personal business thing and not the agency. Reading is not a huge town, but good for you for doing the work.  I hope it pays off for you directly, but I do know doing the right thing always pays off.

Excellent post susan paige . Picking up the phone, then going that extra mile to help a customer, then calling them back is crucial to being successful in any business. Great job!!
