Wordless Wednesday - Ghost Town

Reading through your responses I see you aren't in your normal stomping ground of New York. This would be very out of place there.
Joanna- love this. It raises so many interesting thoughts about its past.
You are right Chris Ann Cleland my normal stomping grounds don't look anything like this. But this was a beautiful place in the southwest - once a bustling copper town and then, when the mines dried up, it went bust!!!
I agree Kathy Streib - I always wonder who visited this place, and what crazy and interesting things may have happened here.

Good morning Joanna. I look at that and wonder about all the stories it could tell both bad and good.
Good morning Joanna. Love the photo, it tells lots of stories about it's history. Too much imagination I guess.
Good morning Joanna Cohlan ,
As always you have captured such an interesting subject and titled it perfectly! It's sad to think this copper mining town was so full of life and now it's gone! Vanished from this earth!!
Good morning everyone. James Dray , Joe Petrowsky and Dorie Dillard the town of Jerome, Arizona which is a real ghost town has actually become a haven for artists and for people who can read your crystals and your auras. It is a fun place to visit if you are in the Sedona area and quite a beautiful vista from its streets.
Joanna I have driven from San Diego to Scottsdale is this anywhere on the way? It looks familiar, Endre
Joanna, what a cool photo! Now this building really has a few deferred maintenance issues!
Hi Endre Barath, Jr. - It is definitely north of Scottsdale so you may have driven east to Jerome and then south to Scottsdale but it is not that close-it is a bit southwest of Sedona.
Yes you are right Patricia Kennedy it does. But, it makes for a beautiful facade for the glass studio located right behind it!

Ooh, I like this one. Perfect title as ususal, and love reading everyone's take on it. Have a great Friday!
Quite interesting Joanna Cohlan and glad that the comments reveal more about the ghost town & what this building might have been in its former life.
Great photo and comments Joanna Cohlan ...there's power in that ghost town, what gets lit up?
Good morning Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD , Mary Yonkers and Lisa Von Domek . I always thought that the term "ghost town" meant that the town was haunted. Maybe there are a few ghosts running around now and then but I must say that the artists that have moved to Jerome have given it life and that the charm of the town is that so many buildings are actually intact and refurbished.

Joanna, what an interesting sight, and does sort of look like it could have been a jail in its day!
You always pull off the picture/perfect caption phenomena! I mentioned you today, milady....in my Sunday Astoria Oregon Americana post.
Good morning Joan Cox - I love these old facades although they do remind me that there has been so much destruction to old and beautiful architecture and that most structures can not stand forever, no matter what they are.
Hi there Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Realtor (503)755-2905 - I will check now - can't wait to see you!

My packing was one of the MANY things I thought about early in the AM when I couldn't sleep.
Oh the stories it could tell. I love things like this, but wish I could know the history!
Yes, for sure Sharon Tara - and I wonder if these "facades" have ears???

Seeing that makes my imagination go wild about all the happenings that took place long ago,
