Rocket Launch From Cape Canaveral Tomorrow

I still am amused by the number of people that think that because the Space Shuttles are no longer launching out of Cape Canaveral that nothing takes off here. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Tomorrow, April 8th, SpaceX is scheduled to launch a Dragon space capsule for a resupply mission to the International Space Station ISS. At this point in time the weather looks great, but, if Mother Natures chooses not to cooperate the date could be postponed.

The really cool thing about this launch is that SpaceX (Elon Musk's company) will attempt to land this rocket for reuse. You may remember that a little over a year ago in January of 2015 another attempt was made at landing a rocket for reuse and that ended in failure.

Being a huge proponent of recycling, I personally am all for reusing the rockets. There is far to much space garbage in the Earth's orbit as it is. It's time for revolutionaries like Elon Musk to work on reusing massive rockets and anything else they can think of!

The launch window for tomorrow opens at 4:43pm EDT from the Cape Canaveral Space Station. NASA says that there is an 80% favorable chance of the launch taking place tomorrow. Let's wish them luck not only on the resuppy mission, but also on successfully landing that rocket!

Kerry, thanks for sharing this and yes, many think that there is no longer a space program. My family was there for a launching years ago and it is impressive!

I think people found the shuttles more romantic than the rockets Kerry L Klun and thus the appeal of space flight has dropped off. I want to be Captain Kirk and fly the ship around, not be strapped to a rocket aimed at an object and then somewhat gracefully fall back to Earth.

Kerry,

Thanks for sharing this great info with us, and like you we applaud Elon Musk's effort to bring back space junk  Wasn't Cape Canaveral called Cape Kennedy at one time?  A

Alexandra,

Yes it was from 1963 to 1973 in honor of President Kennedy. Good memory, few people know that!
