Clearwater got its name from the freshwater springs along the bluffs overlooking the harbor discovered by Spanish explores who called the area Clear Water. During the Seminole Wars, Fort Harrison was located on the bluffs. Fort Harrison was utilized as a place of healing for soldiers. The soldiers were treated to views of Clearwater Harbor and the island that is now Clearwater Beach. Today, Coachman's Park is located there. Coachman's Park holds many types of events there including the annual Clearwater Jazz Holiday. While the Clearwater area is a populare winter tourist destination, it is a thriving year round community.
Clearwater has a variety of types of homes. Countryside, a popular address, in Clearwater is a master-planned comunity started by US Homes in the 1970's, built around the Countryside Golf Course. Much of the area in Clearwater is now built out, so land is scarce, so much of the new building is multi-family. Station Square is is a 15 story, new 126 unit development in downtown Clearwater, with upscale residential, retail and restaurant space.
Why move to Clearwater? Maybe it is the closeness of award winning beaches, breathtaking sunsets, warm tropical breezes, the mild climate or all the special events that entertain both residents and visitors. Whatever the reason Clearwater is a wonderful place to live.
