Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy.
Emil was born in Leipzig, Germany back in 1853 to Adolf and Rosalie. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Vienna. Emil found it difficult to pay attention in school and dropped out of several of them. Needless to say his parents were disappointed, so at 17 he worked as a clerk in a Moravian railway company. That only lasted 2 years. At 19 he moved to France. Due to his father’s connections he was able to get a diplomatic posting at Tangier.
In 1874 he was called for military duty but was declared unfit. He led many different positions including trading tobacco and as an inspector for an insurance company. in 1896 he placed an order for a Phoenix Double-Phaeton with a staggering 8 hp engine, which propelled the vehicle at a staggering 15 MPH, needless to say he was hooked. By 1897 he was selling 140 cars a year which made him more than what he was getting at the insurance company. From that meager beginning in the next paragraph you’ll know the dynasty he created.
So do you know Emil? Hmm, maybe just maybe you know his daughter Mercedes, yes that Mercedes. And as Paul Harvey would say now you know the rest of the story.
