As you can see the little one, Laston was getting fussy. It was already past bath/bed time for him on a school night. But the birthday boys Jonah and a James who just turned 4 were super happy to be sitting in Papa Don's lap. We had a great night visiting our adopted grands last night. They are a joy to us both.

Bob "RealMan" Timm our children didn't cooperate so we actually just found a family with kids and decided love makes grands, not blood.

Karen Fiddler, Broker/Owner maybe one day I'll get them all 5 still for a minute.
Lottie Kendall yes, they all do. Laston was getting cranky by the time, but was so happy earlier.
Tammy, they are so cute, and they do look like they are up past their bedtimes.

It doesn't get any better than that, Tammy! There's a whole bunch of male bonding going on in that picture!

Oh yes... way, Tammy! Our youngest grandchild just turned 17 and is now scouting colleges!
Patricia Kennedy it was an unusual week. We had emergency school closings Monday and Tuesday because a local water main broker Sunday night. Until late evening Tuesday the city was under a boil advisory. So bedtime was a little lax and it sure begining to show.
Nina Hollander oh goodness. Are they all still fairly close to Charlotte?

Tammy, grandkids grew up in Colorado outside of Breckenridge, with three of four born in Hawaii and the youngest in Iowa. The oldest is now doing his masters in architecture at Rice University in Houston. The next oldest is in management for the Waldorf Astoria hotels in Phoenix, after graduated from Denver University a few years ago. The third is starting senior year at Colorado State. Youngest obviously still at home. We've not lived close to kids in 25+ years.
Looks like he has his hands full, but he is very happy about it. How are you getting photos to upload? It doesn't seem to be working for me right now.
Nina Hollander oh my goodness I can't imagine. My family has lived locally here for 10 generations. I have 7 generations buried within 35 miles of my home. Predating the revolutionary war even. We've had some venture out into the world, but they typically move back home as they get older.
Brian England when did you try last? Yesterday when Bob posted it was fixed I had to clear my casche on my browser by clearing the history and restart my computer and then I had no more issues uploading.

Thanks, I will try that right now!
It's different for us Tammy, as my family came to the USA in the early 1950's from post-war Germany. I was born in a displaced person's camp in the 1940's. My husband emigrated from Holland in 1957 because they still didn't have enough food then to feed people after WWII. He started out in South Africa and moved on from there through a number of African countries as a banker. So both sides have been all over the place and all over the world in terms of life, work, family, etc. I still have a lot of family in Germany and in Russia and my husband in Hollander. Our grandchildren were actually the first in our family to be born on American soil.
What a precious picture Tammy Lankford - Papa Don certainly has his hands full!
Tammy - wonderful picture. Like Nina, my grandkids are too grown up for this. Oldest turned 24 just 2 days ago. And youngest is 15...
So yes, I am a bit envious :)

That is a great picture. Poor Laston does look tired, but everyone seems to be having a great time.

Nina Hollander that sounds like Donald's family. He was a first generation American. And even then was born to a Navy father and moved every 4 years, became an adult and joined the Army. When he came "home" to me in 2001 was the first time he had not moved every 3 to 4 years in his entire life.
Lisa Von Domek but a joyful heart with that hands full.
Larry Johnston thank you, we think so

Debbie Laity I wish I'd been taking a few photos earlier, but honestly I was enjoying the kids too much. Laston brought me a book over and over to read to him. It was about tractors and he did really well remembering what things were in the pictures.
Tammy Lankford ~ hi Tammy... my husband and I were just talking about that the other day. We've now been in Charlotte for 18 years and that's the longest time we've lived consecutively in one place ever. And we've been in our house 10 years now and that's the longest we've been in one house.
Precious memories in a photo like that Tammy, I am looking forward to the day when I start getting grandchildren.
Hello Tammy ...
I almost missed this post, classic photo and featured to the group:
