As soon as this interview started, I could tell this guy was from Hawaii..... Better yet, I was guessing he was from the Big Island.
"I knew I had to do it, and I didn't know what to expect...."
(Jason Kunewa from the Big Island of Hawaii) .
They were out fishing off of Dana Point, CA when they came across a giant , approx 700lb Leatherback Sea Turtle, entangled in Kelp, it was wrapped around his fins and his body, pretty bad. Without giving it a second thought, Kunewa grabbed his knife, and jumped in the water to cut the turtle free, as Jason says in the interview...
The turtle is my "Aumakua" , and for you not familiar with the term Aumakua, it is a being of both heavenly and earthly nature, An Aumakua is an ancestor that has died and has come back in a different form.....
Better than me explaining it, click here: What is Aumakua - Watch the video.
Before that though, take a minute to watch the interview below.
Great Job Jason Kunewa!

I feel lucky to live Hawaii, it is more than a place, Hawaii is a "lifestyle" and when we say things like Aloha, and Mahalo, we mean things far more important than just a hello, goodbye, or thank you, there is spirit and feelings behind those words....
With that, I will sign off......
Aloha and Mahalo
