New Kitchen Countertops for a Kentlands Home

The Kentlands community is now 25 years old and it is time for some home owners to upgrade their kitchens. Our home was built in 1994 and we still had laminate kitchen countertops. If we sell the home, home buyers now prefer other materials. We did some searching and pricing and made the decision to purchase new quartz countertops which have now been installed. Quartz is more expensive to granite but requires little maintenance.

Dolores and I worked with Design Consultant Chris Nader at Granite Works at 1090 Taft Street in Rockville, Maryland 20850. They provided the countertops, installation, a new double stainless steel sink, facet and soap dispenser. Separately, we purchased a new garbage disposal and it was installed at the same time. If you have a gas cooktop, make sure the reconnection is included in the contract. I prefer an all inclusive contract. There was some minor drywall damage that will not be corrected by the installers.

Chef Dolores is happy with the new look. I will talk about appliances in another blog.

Good morning Roy. I have quartz in my kitchen too and like the look too. I'm not a granite person and I am happy with my choice. Lovely flower.

Hi Roy - good luck with your new counter tops.  They make a difference.  I have heard good things about quartz.  I upgraded mine to granite.

Wonderful shout out to your installer ! As we know, most buyers prefer to have the updates done already vs out of pocket expense . If those improvements are not done, the buyers mind calculates much higher than realistic prices and often moves on to the next home for that reason. I warn buyers not to calculate in their heads but to calculate out loud so I can correct them if I can add insight to that improvement.

I would love to see the new quartz and sink and faucet. Older homes in our area almost always require some updating to sell.

I make it a habit to revisit some old blogs and reblogs on a regular basis. I delete some material and might even find some good ideas for new posts.
