Dane County Wisconsin Farmer's Market-5th Best in the US-Opens Saturday
According to USA Today's 10 Best polls, the Dane County Farmer's Market is the 5th best Farmer's Market in the country. Madisonians love it and it is so crowded, you have to walk in only 1 direction (counterclockwise) around the square. The landscaping around the Capitol is manicured and lovely and changes throughout the year. Tomorrow is opening day!
I can't wait to get some luscious Hook’s Cheese. It is one reason Wisconsin is known for it's cheese. Capri Cheesery offers goat sheep and cow cheese, too. McCluskey Brothers offers all certified organic cheese, maple syrup and grass fed beef. We like to visit Silly Yak Bakery for breads, brownies, and pastries, specializing in gluten free. For apples, cider, and apple sauce, go to Pleasant Springs Orchard.
We are sure to visit our friends, Scott and Muffy from Bluestem Farm who will bring a wondrous variety of wildflower plants, their major crop from their place in Baraboo.
Here are just some of the other markets in the Madison area, all opening tomorrow, April 16th.
Not on the list above, is the Monroe Street Farmers Market, which opens on the High School grounds of Edgewood College for its 2nd year in a row on May 15th this year, as I was informed by Orange of Orange Tree Imports. I will be sure to visit it this year.
Warm weather will grace us this weekkend as we stroll counterclockwise around the Square. See you there!
