So Much More Than Sticks and Bricks!
Today I had a settlement with Margaret Rome and a wonderful family that proved once again that what we do is so much more than sticks and bricks.
It all started when Dad had a medical issue. Their son realized that it would be difficult for his parents to stay in the home they had lived in for more than 50 years. He knew that it was going to be important for him to help his parents to find a home that would work better for them.
Well after 11 PM one night, he started a home search, putting his contact information into between 7 and 10 online forms for homes that might be a good fit for his parents. At 11:40 PM his phone rang. He didn't recognize the number, but he picked up. On the other end he heard "You are impressed, aren't you?", Margaret Rome introduced herself and that began what was to be a wonderful experience for all parties involved.
Margaret had a fabulous condo for sale that would be the perfect fit for his parents. The interesting thing was that the condo had been well loved by the owners, and their adult children were helping them sell it.
After qualifying them, the contract was ratified. The transaction was not without challenges. The VA was not able to qualify the condo for financing due to leasing restrictions, so we had to start over with conventional financing. Through it all, all parties were accomodating, helpful and understanding. Everyone worked together and made decisions that were in the best interest of all involved. As you probably know by now, Margaret doesn't do upset, so every challenge was met by "OK, what can we do now?"
The settlement was expertly handled by Shina Parker, the CEO and founder of Integrity Title in Owings Mills, Maryland. Their processing team was on top of everything throughout. In attendance was Margaret, the Maryland Mortgage Mama, Mom and Dad, as well as two of the three adult children who had been instrumental in getting their parents into their new home (the third was unable to attend, though was certainly there in spirit), the fabulously kind son of the seller, who was acting as power of attorney for his out of town sister and his mother.
There were laughs, love, tears and lots of flowers! Margaret and I were each presented with GORGEOUS lavender roses!
I was so honored that my brother Tony and I were chosen to work with this family and got to see it through to the beginning of this new chapter.
With permission, I would like to share a bit of this special day!
Just another settlement (Consummation) that proves that Real Estate is so much more than sticks and bricks!
Congratulations on your "mountain!" Thank you for the blessing of getting to know your family! May you spend many, many years filling your new home with love!
