Putting the clients interest first

By
Real Estate Agent with Bend River Realty

As realtors we face situations quite often with our clients or potential clients that may not appear to be profitable for our business, such as; A client comes in for advice in selling a property with the idea of reinvesting in another property that the client likes better for some reason. As a realtor this seems like a gift from Heaven getting fees from helping with 2 different transactions. During proceeding with fact finding to do our job as their realtor we find that some market or zoning conditions may be in the works in the next couple of years that would greatly benefit the client to not make a move at this point. How should we as realtors proceed? Give the client the facts and try to convince them of the potential value of waiting for a while before selling their current property. (ouch) Not fun, but long term benefits for all involved.  Definately stay in tight with your client for the future payoffs of waiting.

It has been my experience having worked in the Bend Oregon real estate market for the last 18 years as a licensee that any situation where even if I know I have been completely in the right if I look at my interests over the clients, nobody wins.

Share some stories that you may have experienced and how they should be handled looking at the long range benefits.
