What Do You Want On Your Tombstone?

Last post on death, for awhile, I promise!

A couple of days ago I wrote a post about heading to a funeral to "face death". I wanted to use a tombstone in the post and instead of using clip art I took a quick trip to the cemetery and took some pictures. I wanted to share two of those pictures with you.

Tombstone1

The tombstone above just caught my attention. I thought it was cool. I've painted out part of the name just to be safe. Note the design where the top name is. Do you think he was a Realtor?

Blonde

OK, this is a big tombstone, about 5' across... couldn't they tell us more than the hair color of the deceased? (yes I know, you don't have to explain it to me)

Do you think these were designed in advance by the deceased or their families after the fact?

I'm going to go with tombstone where planned in advanced.

Good luck and success.

Bob, on my last trip to Paris, I went to the cemetery in Montponarsse to bring some flowers to an old friend, and I was struck by the whimsey of some of the stones.  One was a scupture of a man sitting in bed reading a book with his wife (or this is France, after all, it might have been his mistress) slept next to him.   And I'll bet the guy who was buried there had something to do with planning the design!  There were others,  too, that seemed to laugh at the whole idea of death.

Most tombstones that I have seen ordered were done by the family, with the deceased in mind - meaning something personal to that person was part of the tombstone - either wording or pictures.  The pictures your posted were beautiful!  So much more went into them, because they were not markers.  A phrase that has always made me smile and laugh is:  "The shell is here . . .  but the nut is gone"  I could relate to that Bob "RealMan" Timm.  Don't think Roger would use that for me, though it could be appropriate . . .

Many times that head stone speakes volumes when it comes to the person's personality

Very interesting indeed. I don't go to cemetaries except at funerals. I have never like them. I do not plan to be buried or have a tombstone. Cremation for me.

That would be a good design for a Real Estate Agent.  As far as the Blonde, that's probably what everyone called her. "The Blonde", and nobody really knew her name.

Good morning Bob "RealMan" Timm . I find it interesting to stroll through old cemeteries. Sometimes the names sometimes the dates intrigue me.

Good morning Bob,

Keeping it simple sometimes is the best way.

It could have asked where is Dagwood!

Make yourself an astonishing day.
