Bouchon Entrance, Yountville, Napa ValleyIf you have ever tried to get a seat at the bar at Bouchon, you may relate to this story. Expedia has just ranked Yountville fifth among its 30 most beautiful towns in the nation. Granted number five may not seem like a big deal, but this town know for its charm and gastronomic delights will take it. In case you wonder which hamlet was number one, that honor goes to Florence, Oregon.

Expedia arrived at their rankings from surveys of vacationers and residents and from the personal experience of Expedia staff. Some of their criteria was based upon the natural and architectural beauty of each location. Here are links to Expedia's website for what they said about Yountville  and their full story Ranking the top attractive destinations in the U.S..

After living here for the last thirty years and running businesses for ten years prior to my buying a house here, I do call this place home. The one big drawback for some locals, it does get a bit crowded here on almost any nice weekend and often stays this way all summer. If you would like more about my experiences and some history here, please check out my article published in Bay Area Relocation, 40 Years A Personal Perspective of Yountville.

For a more detailed account of the happenings here, go to Howard Yune's story, Yountville makes Expedia list of nation’s 'most beautiful' towns, in the Napa Valley Register.

I remember Yountville from when if you sneezed while driving through it, you missed it and you'd never stop there unless you needed gas...now this was 1975 mind you, when I used to be a Lake Berryessa part-time resident and called Napa, St. Helena, Yountville, Calistoga and the like my stomping grounds. It's absolutely astonishing to see the changes 41 years makes. I called that whole Napa County region my second home for over 16 years. Now you drive down Washington St and there's hotels and The French Laundry (which I remember when, in the 1990's you could simply walk in - no reservations necessary)! It's bittersweet to see the changes and growth of this once sleepy town you'd hardly notice when passing through.

How true what you say is. I first came here in 1972, opened gift shops in 1977, bought a home in 1986 and now suffer the pains of all the Town's popularity.  I wish it were a bit different, cheers cvc

Curtis Van Carter As said many times in Field of Dreams   'Build it, and they will come." That is exactly what happened to Yountville and is happening everywhere in the Country when the word gets out. Too bad!

Expedia definitely got it right when it comes to Yountville.  I've marveled at its beauty each time I've visited.  Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents and I had lunch at Bouchon a few years ago.  I loved it!
