Shakespeare explained it best in his play Romeo & Juliet when he wrote "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." No matter what we call these roses, they have made the air smell sweet in our Thomasville community. And now it is time to celebrate their sweetness. The Thomasville 2016 Rose Show & Festival officially begins this Thursday with a parade and ends with a artistic flair on Saturday.

Thomasville 2016 Rose Show & Festival

The Thomasville 2016 Rose Show & Festival kicks things off with the ever-popular Children's Rose Bud Parade on Thursday evening. This will be quite possibly the cutest parade you've ever seen. The parade starts promptly at 7pm at the intersection of Washington and Broad St. The line-up of floats, marching bands and walkers will continue down Broad St to Smith Ave. It finishes up at the intersection of Smith and Crawford. The police will be closing the intersections along the route at 5pm. Bring a lawn chair with you for comfort and scout out your spot along the route early.

Several museums and galleries in the area will be hosting exhibits with a rose show theme during the Thoamsville 2016 Rose Show & Festival. The Thomasville Municipal Building (144 E Jackson St), the Power of the Past Museum (882 Airport Rd), the Thomas County Museum of History (626 N Dawson St) and the Jack Hadley Black History Museum (214 Alexander St) offer special glimpses into past Thomasville Rose Shows during the entire three day festival. Watch Orchids on Parade inside the municipal building. There's a fashion show luncheon at the Thomasville Garden Center on Friday at 12:30pm. The 68th Annual Rose Parade rolls down Broad St in the downtown area at 7pm Friday evening. Then, there's a car and truck show as well as a Garden Club Flower Show on Saturday. And that's not all.
