We take it for granted that Earth Day is celebrated every year. However, back in 1970, taking time out to contemplate how to nurture instead of destroy the environment was a novel concept. The idea of recycling, solar energy and electric cars were not in the public vernacular for the most part. Today, reducing our carbon footprint is on the minds of the majority of people in the world. College Station Earth Day 2016 offers many eco-friendly ideas that you can implement in your day-to-day activities.

College Station Earth Day 2016
Several organizations have partnered up to bring the College Station Earth Day 2016 festivities to life. They include the Brazos Valley Council of Governments, the City of Bryan's Environmental Department, the City of College Station's Recycling Department, Keep Brazos Beautiful, Texas A&M Recycling and the Twin Oaks Landfill and Compost facility. The organizations as well as others will have informational booths set up at Wolf Pen Creek to educate the public on what small changes can make a big difference in reducing the strain on our natural resources.
Besides information, the College Station Earth Day 2016 festivities include live demonstrations, an animal center, college prep services, music, dancing and much more. A special Kids Zone will be set up on the grounds, too. Texas Roadhouse and Newk's will be featured in the food court. Live musical performances can be found throughout the day in the amphitheater as well as the Kids Zone.
And then there is the Duck Derby. Yes, part of the fun festivities during College Station Earth Day 2016 involves the racing of rubber ducks. For just $10 per duck ($50 for six or $100 for 13), you can "adopt" a rubber duck. The race will begin at 1pm. Winners will receive one of several amazing prizes that include a $1000 gift card and a Navasota River duck hunt. Visit the information tent at Wolf Pen Creek for more info.
