Soren Aabye Kierkegaard
Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy.
Soren was born in Copenhagen, Denmark back in 1813 to Michael and Ane. Not much of anything is written about his childhood so we’ll just jump to 1830 when he attended the School of Civic Virtue. There he studied Latin and history among other subjects. He went on to study theology at the University of Copenhagen. He wrote: “What I really need to do is to get clear about what am I to do, not what I must know.”
There is so much written about him if I averaged 300 words per blog it would take me months to write it all. So here is the rest of the story. He was a Danish philosopher, theologian, poet, social critic and a religious author who is considered to the be first existentialist philosopher. He wrote critical texts on organized religion, Christendom, morality, ethics, psychology and the philosophy of religion. He died in 1855 at the age of 42.
