What Factors are Considered to be an A+ client?

We are all told to put our database into categories - A+, A, B & C and then there are the M's - Maybes.   Which ones will refer you?  Which ones will want to move often?    I know I have clients that enjoy moving more often than others!   Did one of your clients say they will never move again?   They found their forever home?

What factors should we consider before putting a client into each of these categories?

~ They like to move every few years?

~ They have lots of family members or know many co-workers?

~ They have referred lots of business to us?

~ Have submitted testimonials on many social sites?

~ They plan to have a large family?

~ They buy in the higher-end?

There are some clients you work with often, and you don't hear from them again until they are ready to move.  Then there are some that want to stay in touch on the phone, in person and on social media sites.    How do you categorize them?

I believe every one of the above listed circumstances can determine a A+ client, but each one needs to be evaluated differently.

Good morning, Joan --- this is an interesting topic.  Like Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Call 631-805-4400 (c) I try not to "ceatergorize" people but to treat them as individuals.  From reading your posts, I know that you care for each of your clients' requirements and their comfort level.

That said, I have clients where there is a lot of contact and others where not a peep is ever heardafter a close.   It's great to be surprised by the call with a referral, a decision to buy/sell/or both or just asking a question.

Joan I had not considered some of these factors in rating my Borrowers, thank you for the idea.

Michael, I agree with you comments, but some clients are in my A+ because they have bought LOTS of home, and/or referred lots of business my way.

Larry, I do it just in case I get some tickets to the Home & Garden Show, or a basketball game.   It gives me direction.

George, just like my comment back to Larry, I get free things sometimes, and this way it is easier to dole out!

An A-client to me is a client I like and who likes me. Doesn't matter what kind of home they buy, how often they move or how many others they refer to me.

Hi Joan.  It is a difficult thing to try and predict, but I do set up custom plans and reminders for all of my customers.  Those that are more prone to do business again will get the most attention.

I try to treat them all as an A+.  Even the ones that moved out of state.  You never know when they'll refer someone to you.  It's a very small world nowadays!

Hi Joan... I stopped this A, B, C business years ago. All my clients are treated as A+ clients while active and as A+ clients after closing. And this attitude has paid off handsomely in referrals and repeat business over the years.

Joan, maybe it's a good idea to treat everyone like an A+ client, and that's what they will turn into!

I call them "our golds" and yes, they are treated like it...often. With that said, we want them all to eventually be our Golds. D

Joan, whether right or wrong, I personally do not file my clients under certain letter of the alphabet, I develop friendships with some, closer to some than others but when it comes to attention I give them, they're all the same.

There is little to be accomplished in classifying potential clients.  They all have their time frames and we just help them when they do call.
