April 26, 2016 - Much of North Texas has a tornado/severe weather warning from 6 p.m. to midnight this evening. Never underestimate the power of water! The following video shows how dangerous it is to drive into standing water.
Suggestions for severe weather warnings.
- Charge all electronic devices in advance.
- Have fresh batteries and flashlights.
- Prepare meals that don't require cooking on electric stoves or microwaves.
- Don't drive if you don't have to.
- Check on the elderly.
- Don't leave small children or incompetent people alone.
- Make sure outdoor pets are protected and safe.
- Don't take showers or baths during electrical storms.
- Stay away from windows.
- Don't take digital photos outdoors of lightening strikes.
- Be prepared to go to a safe place if necessary.
- Above all else, safety first!
After the storms
- Check on people who may be new to the area to make sure they are okay.
- Check on the elderly.
- Home Owners need to have roofs checked by local, qualified, credible Roofing Companies and know what is written in their insurance policy with regards to coverage and deductibles.
Home under Contact?
Real Estate agents need to know what their Broker advises for insurance coverage to protect their clients for insurance coverage. For example, does your Seller need to verify home insurance coverage for possible future storm damage prior to closing and put it in writing if the insurance company will allow insurance proceeds to be assigned to the Buyer giving Buyer credit for the deductible according to the contract? Home owners should never cancel home owner insurance before closing but some may do so which can have consequences!
If a Relocation Company is involved in people relocating to the area, they need to be informed of hail or wind damage before closing.
