Does anyone think we are heading for a housing shortage?

I believe we are headed for a housing shortage in the Phoenix Arizona area.  We have 3.79 month supply of inventory on the  market for the month of March 2016.  Builders have not been building to keep up with the population growth.  Houses under the $250,000 price range are receiving multiple offers and buyer's are bidding more than asking price.  This shortage will make 2005 prices look cheap!

My question to my real estate community is, do you think we are heading for a housing shortage?

I think we are already there.  I was on our MLS this morning searching around and the whole time I was saying under my breath....  there's nothing out there.  I guess, if your wanting to sell, it's a perfect time!  Just name your price!

you are probably right and I think it is going to get worse and the prices are going to make 2005 look CHEAP!

Looks that way and and the afforadable  rental market is following the same path.

As a Mortgage Loan Originator in the Phoenix market, I have numerous well qualified borrowers, selective though they may be, who have missed out on numerous homes in the sub $300,000 price arena.  Thinking about a home you like means it will likely be gone.  What is needed is for Sellers to come into the arena
