Just received this letter from a very special seller.
No photos, no cute images because this letter stands on its own.
"You can say that it’s just a coincidence that people sometimes meet and connect, or you can say that their meeting each other was meant to be and that there was a greater hand in bringing them together. I tend to believe in the latter, and my personal story in meeting Margaret Rome is why I believe this.
In the early 1990s I suddenly found myself a single parent with two children under 10 years old and a big house I could no longer afford and had to sell. I was afraid of the entire prospect of selling the house and worried about the future. Real estate agents brought clients to see the house, and often I was there at those times, but most, including my own agent, were curt and didn’t care about anything but getting their commissions. They rushed through, talking about what they liked and didn’t like about the house in front of me as if I were invisible. It was a depressing situation, but then Margaret Rome came into my home with a buyer and changed my entire perception of real estate agents. She wasn’t my agent, although I wish I had known about her and had hired her as my agent, but she cared enough to stay after her buyer had left and pointed out some things that I should fix to make the house more appealing to buyers. My own agent hadn’t told me about these things, nor did she seem to care. However, Margaret could see that I was having a hard time with my situation at that time, and she was comforting in telling me that the house would sell but that if I would fix or change certain things, it would sell more quickly. Although she would not benefit financially or in any other way from staying, being kind, and taking me under her wing to show me how to make my house more appealing, she did these things simply because of the kind of person she is. She cared about me as a fellow human being who needed a kind word and some beneficial suggestions, and I appreciated her compassion towards me more than she knew. In fact, it meant so much to me that I told myself that if I were ever selling a house in the future, I wanted only Margaret Rome to be my selling agent.
Fast forward 23 years to 2016. My children grew up and moved away, and I met, fell in love with, and married a wonderful man. We recently retired together and bought a lovely home in another state. I decided to put my beautiful townhouse at Summit Chase on the market, and I remembered Margaret Rome and my promise to myself about having her as my agent. I never forgot her kindness to me and her professionalism from 23 ½ years before, and she was the only realtor with whom I wanted to work to sell my house. My husband and I met with Margaret to have her view our home and discuss a contract, and she was just as sweet and lovely as I remembered her from more than two decades before. I knew I had made the right choice. Margaret also remembered me when she saw me although it had been many years since we saw or talked to each other. In talking for several hours like old friends, we found out that our maiden names were the same and that we had other things in common that other people would not have had.
There’s a word in Yiddish called “bashert.” It means preordained or determined by destiny. I truly believe that more than 23 years ago, Margaret Rome and I were meant to meet and then meant to link up again years later.
Although I will no longer be living in Maryland, I will still follow Margaret’s blog and listen to her radio show and smile when I hear her voice. Both times in my life when I was involved with Margaret were very positive experiences. I wish her every success and happiness in the future. She is a very special person as well as the best realtor in Maryland and maybe in the entire country! Anyone who works with her is very lucky indeed. Thank you, Margaret, from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, positivity, and expertise. You’re the best!
Sincerely,
Lynn Kerr "
