Are you MORE than a Realtor ?

By
Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty 414-525-0563 57026-90 Broker

We have all had or heard the criticism that Real estate agents are overpaid..after all the job of shuffling paper and seeing a sign is put in the yard or in the case of a Bmoney dressuyer's agent...just the paper shuffle...oh sure you pay a few dollars (like thousands) in dues and insurance....but making all those tens of thousands...how big a hardship can that be ?

Some weeks are more "eventful" than others...suffice to say in any active real estate practice no two days are the same and the tasks are varied. We came to this industry with different skill sets...David in construction...and my background in marketing and both of us having owned, managed and sold other businesses. Skills we didn'[t have but felt we needed we learned...when the market started to fall...we took 3 different paper shufflingcourses in short sales...We took time for the Luxury Institute training...we have developed and nutured our Divorce niche and to some...that will sound like just MORE paper shuffling.

To be a real asset to the people you have the honor of serving, we believe that going the extra mile...

  • Having reliable contractor sources
  • Knowing a variety of lenders  and how they may be able to help Buyers in different situations
  • Helping credit to be built or re-built
  • Suggesting improvements that build equity and reasonable contractors to do them
  •  Negotiating with short sale lenders to relieve distressed sellers of deficiencies
  • Orchestrating multiple pre-signings for closings to meet convenient time tables for all parties
  • Getting code requirements for municipalities
  • Providing legal testimony as to the value of a property
  • Managing property for absentee sellers
  • Readying a home to list -inside out examination of the property and suggesting improvements for the best return on investment
  • Keeping a watchful eye on listings for eager buyers and provding them with the search tools to make the job easier to locate the house they will call home
  • Being informed as to new materials and products in construction and home improvement
  • Decorating and design trends and helpful contractors to make changes and improvements

MOST important of all is knowing what you don't know...learning about it...and finding the highest and best source for every real estate need/desire your clients have today....or may have in the future.  That's HUGE....to be the "go to" person you have to be a go getter...!

If you or anyone you know is looking to sell or buy real estate in southeastern Wisconsin...go to the Realtors who will go get it for you...Call the Hansons, we are honored to be of service.

I had a "realtor" the other day, after an inspection on a disaster of a house I would not want ANYONE to move into, who asked me not to say things on the report in such a way as to "ruin the sale."

Ummm...

And here I thought the house had already done that.

Hi Sally and David... right now, I'm meeting with flooring people and painters to renovate a home that is owned by a California-based investor so we can list the property in July. Everyday there's something being done for some client that probably doesn't immediately fall into the description of real estate agent. But it is part of being a full-service agent.

Sally and David- I wish that all consumers could read this because it clearly shows that agents don't just drive around and open doors to homes.  You both are the consummate professionals.

One of my daughters had a 'friend' who said to me one day, "I wish I could drive around all day in my car and talk on my phone and make a bunch of money." It prompted me to write 250 things we do for buyers and 250 things we do for sellers. It is no easy task, and I take every opportunity to educate my clients.

Sally and David, I've done enough transactions with divorcing couples to appreciate how much they need a good professional.  The house is often their last opportunity to drive each other nuts, and guiding them through the sale takes a lot more skills than just finding the buyer.  I really admire you two for the difference you make.

As others have said, consumers, as a rule, really have no idea of all that we do behind the scenes, as well as the wealth of experience and knowledge that we bring to bear on each transaction. Plenty of education around all that we do is a good thing, and you did a great job of laying out some key items.

I mean all we do is show a house and then collect a huge commission, right?!  In reality if the public knoew all that we do that and the things we put up with, they would probably say that we are underpaid
