Is it the Port before the Storm Today in Katy TX?

We are supposed to have another monster rain storm hit us and storms are predicted for all this weekend being April 30 and May 1, 2016 here in Katy TX and for the whole surrounding Houston area. As most folks are aware, this area has already been hit hard with massive flooding, property damage, deaths due to a 500 year flood rain storm and other subsequent rain storms which hit here on April 18, 2016 and on other subsequent days. The ground is still saturated.

I got up this morning early for a Saturday ( I only get to sleep in a little on Saturday and Sunday with normal get out of bed time at about 5:30 AM) to take our little dog for her walk. It started raining just as I opened the back door. The streets showed it had already been raining during the night. Our normal long walk what I call “Puppy Walk” was cut short as Duchess does not like rain very much. We visited our back yard on this short walk. Maybe 20 minutes later I took her back out as the rain has stopped. I took the below pictures which show menacing rain clouds in the distance. The sun is shining bright right now. We all hope and pray for the best with minimal rainfall and not another monster storm.

We were very fortunate as home in Grand Lakes was not damaged at all. As I said in another post, the water rose in our yard during the height of the monster storm to the highest level ever but lucky for us stopped short of our home. We do live on a corner which does help from a drainage standpoint.

Here is a link to the Red Cross page which discusses the 4,500 plus homes which were damaged in the Houston area by the recent storms and gives many excellent tips if you were affected. Donations of course are appreciated.

Wish us luck as we may need it.

It is so good to hear about Grand Lakes good fortune. Unfortunately, the rain gods get angry with Napa Valley from time to time. cheers cvc

Bob,

I sure hope that the rain does not come for various reasons and as I am going to the medical center on Monday I hope the rains stay away at least until after that!
