Avoiding the Crooks in Sacramento Real Estate

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

It seems that most of the crooked agents I've had the unfortunate experience of running into in Sacramento real estate are not typically within the inner city core of Realtors. There are a few but not many. I find most of the crooked real estate agents are in the suburbs or out of area, like southern California. But they are out there. No doubt about it. It shouldn't amaze me but it sometimes does.

Perhaps the reason there seems to be so many more agents dishing out dishonest dealing from out of area is because Sacramento, for all of its largeness, is basically a small town. You can't get away with as much in Sacramento without other people finding out about it.

When housing inventory tightens, the crooks get more desperate for business. You can read more about this and Sacramento real estate in my personal blog today at this link: Are You Getting Screwed in Real Estate?

Hi Elizabeth.  There are snakes in every business.  Eternal vigilance and experience is what the clients need to stay safe.

I agree with Conrad.  Where there is money there is dishonesty and egos.  One must always beware.  Mark

The bad agents are everywhere Elizabeth. This helps give us a bed reputation.

I really haven't run into that many crooked Realtors, Elizabeth.  I tend to run into more incompetent ones and this is where the problems often come up.

Elizabeth, just this past week, had an agent write a cash offer, closing quickly, and delaying the inspection.   Last Wednesday finally got notice they wanted a $25K reduction in price, but reminded us we can still close on Monday.    No wonder this agent still has had no closing this year!

Hi Elizabeth -- we know that there are a lot of real estate licensees in California. Good times in business are ripe for opportunity to bring many out into trenches scouring for deals to make.   I'm sure every industry has horror stories about those operating on the fringes where honesty and ethics are merely buzzwords.

Gabe Sanders I haven't run into too many either, and when I do and point it out to them, they tend to go the other way. Except for this one guy. He kept nagging me to do business with him. The more thoroughly I read his emails, the worse it got.

Michael Jacobs This particular scam that I wrote about today seems to be only one of many perpetrated by the same individual. I think the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau and the California Bureau of Real Estate would love to investigate this.

An agent like you is definitely going to smell a rat when things are not quite right.
