2016 Bluffton SC Village
There are so many fun things to do in Bluffton on any given weekend but this weekend really is for everyone - moms, dads, singles, children, grandparents, pig-kissers.......oops did I say pig-kissers? Yep, there are all kinds of opportunities to do fund-raising and you'll definitely see the 'kiss me' booth with a pig!
When: Saturday, May 7, 2016
Where: Calhoun Street in Bluffton, SC
Hours: 10:00AM - 5:00PM
What: 38th Bluffton Village Festival
or as we locals still say "Mayfest"
What is going on?
This fun event is eagerly anticipated and takes place in the heart of Old Town Bluffton along Calhoun Street. There will be everything from pie-eating contests, to ugly dog contests, to entertainment by various types of local bands, and loads of food vendors from which to choose.
Organized by the Bluffton Rotary Club, it's so lovely to stroll along the street and see your neighbors and friends, enjoy all of the arts and crafts,- it's really an old-fashioned event and will help you to get into the "Bluffton State of Mind."
Hints to enjoy the Village Festival
1. Wear comfortable walking shoes. The events are spread out up and down Calhoun Street as well as across May River Road into the Promenade.
2. Come hungry; there are so many terrific food trucks, and food stands that you want to save room; most of all you need to be sure to have the shrimp salad sandwiches made by the ladies from The Church of the Cross - where will you find them? At the place where there's the longest line!
3. Bring cash - always easier
4. Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on. There are some picnic tables, and of course the handy curbs but in order to really enjoy all the fun entertainment, it's always best to have your own chair along,
