Recently I was e-mailed by someone on AR telling me not to leave smiley comments.

Why not?
I was then told if I was here to just build up points, blah blah blah...
The person who sent me this e-mail is a very attractive woman.
I think she's sweet but:

Why should you care?
Here's the e-mail:
Hi Luke,
Just a friendly suggestion from a fellow AR member.
I keep seeing smiley faces as comments by you. I don't believe this is the way to participate in the AR community. Some may say you are attempting to boost your numbers by making comments that aren't really comments. In other words, if you aren't going to contribute in a real way, why are you doing it?
You know I like you but there are reasons for the comments other than just a couple of key strokes. You certainly have proven you can contribute to the AR community so I'm sure you can find the words.
Kinda snotty huh?
You don't know me that well, sunshine.
I leave long comments, short ones and sometimes a smiley because I don't know what to write, have read that article before, it was copied from a book, or I'm just not in the mood to tell you what a tomato looks like when you see it (http://activerain.com/blogsview/48653/Stop-Acting-Like-Blogging).
OF COURSE I WANT TO BUILD UP A LOT OF POINTS!!!

(Who doesn't?)
But I do read/write-fun/informative blogs and find a lot of people interesting on AR also.
Don't make me hate something I already like very much.

GOTTA GO!

I'd rather someone leave a smile than discouragement.
