A California landscape grower last year told me there was not much profit growing drought tolerant plants and he was moving to Colorado to start a cannabis farm. It was unthinkable that we are getting closer than ever to the consumers- the legalization of cannabis.
Today, there are 23 states which have legalized marijuana for medical use and 4 other states and District of Columbia have legalized recreation cannabis.

A number of states are scheduled to vote on legalization ballot initiatives this coming November, including California, Florida and Ohio, which is deciding on legalization of recreational use. If the California ballot initiative goes through, the most populous state will become largest marijuana consumers markets in the world!
It is only natural to think of business potential opportunities. According to some business entrepreneurial estimate (e.g.420 Investor on weeds) this can be a $6.5 billion dollar business and the first wave business owner will prosper. In fact, Walgreen is not afraid to start educating consumers and hint they could in fact put it behind the counter or on the shelf (Walgreens selling what?). I have seen shop owners looking for a realtor to strike a deal with landlords in leasing stores selling them in several South Bay. Time will tell when one will see shelves at these chain stores stocked with them.
