Golden Lion Tamarin, National Zoo, Washington, DC

Real estate professionals tend to work long hours, including weekends, and frequently take too little time for personal and family pleasure.  As you plan your summertime schedule, be sure to include time for personal enjoyment.  My friend Joni Staples commented that she had not visited a zoo in over 25 years.  Add your local and regional zoos to your schedule and, with camera in hand, take a few hours to enjoy the visits.

Include visits to the zoo in your plans for the year. Dolores and I like to visit the National Zoo in Washington, DC.

You are so right Roy, and I need to do this more often!  Even a trip to our local Zoo sounds great, we have a couple of great ones here I need to put on my list, thanks for the reminder.

What a nice suggestion, Roy.  I haven't been to the zoo for many years either.  I think the closest one is in Seattle, about 135 miles away.

We tried to visit the zoo this week with the elementary-aged grandsons. Poured the whole time. Darling photo!

Hi Roy - Gene and I are bringing our 14 year-old granddaughter to DC with us in July-her first trip. I was thinking she might enjoy a visit to the National Zoo. Is it easily accessible from the Georgetown area?

Roy, what a wonderful photo! We have a zoo in Virginia about a 30 minute drive. I hope to check it out this summer and take some photos.

I must admit it is an intentional choice for me not to visit Zoo's as much as I used to love them... I am more concerned how the animals are being kept as prisoners instead of in their natural environment like the San Diego Zoo does....Endre

My daughter was just saying that she wants to visit a zoo but we don't have any around here. If we hit Seattle this summer we will try to visit the zoo while we are there. We did go to the zoo when we were in Oahu in February. It was interesting!

The National Zoo is on Connecticut Avenue. You can take the Metro or a taxi. Plan to spend several hours since it is impossible to see everything in one day.

Print a copy of the zoo map on the website. You will need it.
