Get a warm welcome to Kirkwood with all the family-friendly fun of the 14th annual Kirkwood Spring Fling & Tour of Homes. Start the day off with our 5K, stroll through the artists market, catch some live music with a bite to eat from local vendors or the BBQ competition, and let the kids go wild in the kids area. Best of all, admission is free.
Can’t wait to see you in Bessie Branham Park, 2051 Delano Drive NE in Kirkwood on May 14th. The 14th annual Kirkwood Spring Fling festival is from 10am – 8pm on Saturday, May 14, 2016 and the Tour of Homes is on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6pm.
More than 80 artists participate in the Spring Fling artist market, and the market features some of the best talent from Atlanta and the Southeast. You’ll find beautifully handcrafted pottery, jewelry, paintings, and other home art at this year’s festival.
Come one, come all! Come try killer homemade BBQ for just $5 a fork at the 14th annual Kirkwood Spring Fling. In addition to the BBQ Cookoff and the great restaurants in Kirkwood, the Spring Fling’s food vendors offer hot dogs, gyros, sandwiches, and of course, funnel cakes and other street festival staples. The Kirkwood Neighbors’ Organization will be selling premium beer, sangria, bottled water, and soda. There will be a good variety of food trucks on hand to tempt your taste buds as well.
Head over to the music stage on the Bessie Branham lawn to enjoy free concerts from some of Atlanta’s best talent. We’ll have eight bands playing a range of styles from folk to rock, and funk to Latin jazz. The first set starts at 10:45 a.m., and the party lasts ’til 8 p.m.
Nestled in the shade of the unique Urban Tree House modeled after a map of the United States, the Spring Fling Kids Area features a day filled with activities for children of all ages. This year, they have some returning favorites like balloon art and Georgia Bubble Man, as well as brand new attractions that are sure to keep your little ones smiling. The bounce houses will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Get a 5-minute pass for $1 or an unlimited pass for just $10.
You can also learn a little more about what makes our neighborhood feel so unique with the Tour of Homes on Saturday and Sunday. Get your tour tickets online, at several local businesses or in the park during the festival.
7th Annual Spring Fling 5K Road Race will be on Saturday, May 14, 8:30am. The race starts at Kirkwood Station, which is on Hosea Williams Drive at Howard Street NE (view route). The gently sloping route passes by historic homes and tree-lined boulevards before finishing back in downtown just as the Spring Fling is getting started. Runners can stick around to enjoy the festival (with a free drink!) after the race. Registration is $30 (or just $20 for kids 12 and under).
All proceeds go to benefit the Kirkwood Neighbors’ Organization, a local 501c3 non-profit group dedicated to community improvement.
