George Souto, consistently has so many great posts and most importantly is terrific about sharing it to us Rainers and beyond. This article has new & exciting information for all the readers to take advantage from. I, myself will be anxious to learn from it! So many times I write blogs and really don't think that it gets the impact that it should. So I love to see re-blogs of popular posts. Thanks again for sharing.
A couple of years ago I read an article in Scotsman's Guide by Sarelyn Radecke & Gretchen Wegrich titled "A Unique Brand Can Be Yours" that has stuck with me since then. This article was especially true on the points it made about the 4 Types Of Bloggers I Do Not Want To Be Like. What reminded me of this article again was Lynn B. Friedman challenge last month 2016 Blog JUMPSTART Challenge - Grow Your Personal Best for YOUR Success, and reading the Community Guidelines and Weltanschauung.
The four examples of blogger I do not want to be like are:
- The Shameful Plugger: This blogger's posts are basically nothing but spam. Their blogs are basically ME, ME, ME shameless self-promotion. They will generally not stop with doing this on their own blogs, but extend it to their comments on the blogs of others.
- The Online Saboteur: This blogger will do anything and everything they can to trash their competition, even at the cost of making themselves look bad and losing prospective clients.
- The Self-Styled Expert: This blogger presents him or herself as an expert, but can't back-up what they say. This blogger presumes others will just except what they are saying, and be blinded to the fact they do not know what they are talking about. This is very likely to happen when a blogger steps outside of their area of expertise and into someone else's. It quickly becomes clear they do not have any real knowledge of what they are talking about.
- Copy & Paste Advertisers: This blogger is pretty self explanatory. This blogger is to lazy to create their own original content, so they simply copy what someone else has written and try to pass it off as their own. This blogger loses credibility quickly, because these days all anyone has to do is Google one or two sentences of the blog and there pops up the original blog, or content very similar to their blog.
NOTE: The above four terms for these bloggers were used in the article, but the definitions are what these terms mean to me from what I have unfortunately seen a minority of bloggers do in 9+ years I have been blogging.
I hope this blog 4 Types Of Bloggers I Do Not Want To Be Like, has caused the readers to look more closely at how their blogs are branding them. I will close with the following question, is your blog branding you in the way you want to be viewed by others, or is it doing the opposite? The answer requires honesty, and the ability to see our true reflection in our blogging mirror.
