The question was asked yesterday, Friday 13th, "What are you doing today to make it awesome?" My intent was to create a tour of a back yard which was comprised of very unique real estate. Instead of being a waste land I wanted to context it as a dreamland, a place where ones expectation and imagination can find expression.
So, my adventure was to go into the swamp and show what was there.
Let me share a little of what I found.
First you need to get into the water so off we go. If you've ever watched those survival reality shows on TV, you must understand, recording everything takes 5 times longer. The photographer, not benefiting from a walking stick, precedes much more slowly. The greatest water depth reached was mid-thigh.
No photographers were harmed in the recording of this event.
The look I am showing in the image to the right is a silent communication conveying, "Stop your complaining and let's get going."
In addition to recording the vastness of the space, I needed to show what was concealed from the casual eye, not only in the water but in the canopy of towering cypress sheltering us from the sun.
As expected, the foliage had everything one can expect within the perfection of anarchy that a swamp appears to be.
This Florida cigar orchid was one of many types, on display high in the trees that no one will see if they don't stop and get to know the spirit of the place, genius loci.
It is my hope that each reader today chooses to take a walk on their wild side and discover something that has been concealed in plain sight.
It has been my great privilege, afforded to me by the incredible diversity of activity as a real estate professional to not only assist in the buying and selling of real estate, but to embrace some vision to be guardian of the land. Unless you know the life within the swamp, the passion to save it is lost.
What has been your experience of discovery?
Did you ever discover the unexpected and as a result developed a new passion?
Let me read of your experiences below.
Best of success and adverture to all of you,
